Moving Out…

Hello, folks!

It’s been a while since I’ve done an update (well, perhaps a month ago, but still…), but in any case, I just wanted to update you on my current life in France. I’ve been back for nearly two months now, and I can say that a LOT has happened with me since arriving back.

It’s interesting, because I was hoping for a smooth-sailing kind of year this time. As this year’s my second one in the same city and same job, I’d imagined that I would be able to relax and enjoy myself a bit more: with my expat friends, a smoother time at work, and especially travel. However, as it goes, this year has thrown me a curve ball, and it’s been a matter of handling it as efficiently (and stress-less) as possible.

What do I mean by this? In other words, I’m moving apartments! Having lived in my current flat for just over a year, I’ve decided to move out and into another place. Especially if you’ve been following me over this past year or so in France, you’d know that I’ve been living in a roommate situation, and that a lot of drama has happened through it. From the three French girls last year (one who was toxic and verbally-abusive) to two Spanish girls (messy af, but nice enough) to the current two French girls (also messy, but also not very nice), I’ve had my fair share of roommates with whom I couldn’t get along with, to the point that I really wanted to move out.

At first, I was reluctant to move. Considering that I was so used to the flat I’d been living in for over a year, I’d thought that I could tolerate the new roommates who lived in in September. Within weeks, I knew that it wasn’t going to work out, as our lives were so different, let alone personalities. And the fact that I’d always wanted to live on my own since I started this job, well, I decided to take matters into my own hands and find a place on my own.

From late September to just a week ago (early October), I scoured flat listings online in hopes of finding a place which would be 1) within my price range, 2) relatively-centrally located, and 3) equipped with a washing machine. After three or so visits to different flats, I eventually settled on one last week. After signing the lease, picking up the keys, and activating electricity, water, and Wifi, I’m all set to move into this new place this weekend.

It’s a big step, I know, but the way I see it, moving into this studio by myself (sans roommates) will make me happy in the end– at least, for the next 10-11 or so months that I’m here in France! And it’s less expensive than my current place, which I’m glad. Granted, it’ll be a slow process of moving all of my stuff from my current place to the new one over this month of October, but I know that things will work out all right in the end.

Any case, I’ll keep you updated on my move-in affairs as this month progresses. It should all turn out well, though! Thanks for reading my otherwise rant, and I’ll talk to you soon! 🙂
