Happy Sunday, folks!
Taking this week’s song back a year ago to Flo Rida and 99 Percent’s collab “Cake.” Simple, but catchy in its structure, it’s an easy-going dance song to enjoy yourself while at the club or at a house party.
Admittedly, I shared this song in one of my posts earlier this year, but fast-forward months later, and I’m still hooked! I first discovered it this year in January when I was in Budapest: I was out clubbing at a R&B venue when it came on– I don’t know why, but I really got into the song (of course, some alcohol did help, too) and afterwards, I found the song online to download for listening on my own.
Granted, it’s your typical Flo Rida jam, with its potentially sexualized lyrics (*correction* is sexualized) and repetitive sing-talk rap. I would say that it’s the beat that makes “Cake” a good bop, and it’s one not to take so seriously when you’re out having a good time.
