Malibu Mornings (poem)

Malibu Mornings

Waves lap over my toes
like dogs savoring that last bite
of sunset by the sea:

I see how the Pacific glides
with gulls returning home
at the end of the day,

Sleeping, dreaming about
that glorious hour
waking up to Malibu mornings

To sunny eggs and toast
and you holding a coffee
with a hand that held me gently

the night before.
