Hello, everyone!
Hope that you’re all having a good weekend. This week’s “Sunday Slow Jams” will be another nostalgic one, as it takes me back to my teenage years. From the Australian indie band The Temper Trap, “Sweet Disposition” is certainly the kind of track that you would want to put your headphones on and listen to anytime.
Like most people, I first discovered this track from the film (500) Days of Summer, and I was immediately touched by its atmospheric, soothing ambiance, from the repeating guitar riffs to the singer’s angelic falsetto. From what I recall, “Sweet Disposition” played into the film’s scene of the two characters, Tom and Summer, enjoying each other’s company on a train, on the way to attend a mutual friend’s wedding. The song, along with the scene of the characters on the train with the fading sunset, looked absolutely beautiful. Certainly one of the most memorable film scenes that has stuck around with me to this day, as it makes me less of a cynic on the idea of romantic love still existing out there (even if unrequited, as the film shows– spoiler alert!).
Whether you choose to listen to “Sweet Disposition” on a long train ride like Tom and Summer or alone on a quiet Sunday night, it should be the ultimate track to carry yourself away in pure, eargasmic bliss. Enjoy!
