Death Cab for Cutie- You Are A Tourist (SSJ #53)

Happy Sunday, bloggers!

Today’s “Sunday Slow Jam” is inspired by my recent trip to the Pacific Northwest this summer. Featuring the Washington-based group Death Cab for Cutie, the single “You Are A Tourist” is a kaleidoscopic array of visuals and lights (all in one take!) to keep you dazzled and entertained throughout.

Besides paying homage to the band’s Pacific Northwest vibe, the song itself “You Are A Tourist” beckons at the idea of being a tourist in your own hometown, seen in the lyrics “And if you feel just like a tourist in the city you were born/Then, it’s time to go.” Currently passing time back home in Los Angeles, I could not feel any more so like this, especially having worked abroad for the past two years, only to return home for a short time before needing to go back to France. The wistful beat and lyrics inspire a sort of wanderlust, too, evident in the repetitive “When there’s a burning in your heart,” which makes me just about ready to leave again for the next big adventure, unknown and away from home.

Give this a listen, if you want. Have a good Sunday, folks!

Glad you like DCFC, too! “What Sarah Said” is a good song; I’d say that Plans was one of their best albums, that song included!
