the science of sleep (poem)

the science of sleep

sleepless nights cling to my eyes
like red moons desperate to hold on
to the pull of gravity.
my thoughts spinning out of orbit
shooting comets drifting far, far away…

…ideas hit a-miss to be eclipsed
by echoes of lonely hours
underneath the stars.
unable to dream away dolor dreams
flashing moonbeams through my mind.

oh, the wonders of these revelations!
working on and on to be gone
in a light-year gaze.
the dark of the dawn i finally rise
above slit-horizon skies peeking in.
