Happy Sunday!
…and a very Happy Valentine’s Day, too! ❤ ❤ ❤
This year’s holiday of love and romance happens to fall on a Sunday, which I think is an opportune time to feature a Sunday Slow Jam! 😀
Just like with the last couple of “Sunday Slow Jams,” I am keeping with the theme of love, selecting ballads and slow-burners to set the mood for this special holiday. Today’s song is none other than Ellie Goulding’s “Love Me Like You Do,” the hit single from the Fifty Shades of Grey soundtrack.
When I first heard the song when it came out last year, I thought it was a lovely, if not perfect. Lovely in the sense that Ellie Goulding, one of my favorite singers, did a good job with the vocals, but imperfect in the sense that it had to be featured in an otherwise tepidly-received film (of which I have personally never seen, but can say from having watched the clips that it doesn’t look very good).
But aside from its Fifty Shades of Grey affiliation, “Love Me Like You Do” is a lush, catchy song that was albeit overplayed in 2015, but nevertheless hits all the notes in vocal range and production (pun intended). 😛 Goulding’s ethereal voice seems to take you into flight, reflecting that “high” sensation of being in love with someone. The repetitive line, “What are you waiting for?,” is at once curious and seductive, asking for something more to happen between two lovers (whether a committed relationship or making love. Or both). And the music video is absolutely gorgeous- the feels, man. The feels.
Any case, I am still on vacation, but just wanted to pop in on WordPress to recognize Valentine’s Day, even if it’s become a commercialized holiday. Whether single or in a relationship, I wish you a wonderful day- and I hope you enjoy the music! ♪♫

A song to get into the Valentine’s Day mood! ❤
Ellie Goulding has one of those slightly smoky mysterious voices that can make your heart flutter a bit.
I agree; her voice is so ethereal it feels like you’re soaring with her!
