#LoveWins <3 <3 <3

Hello, all.

This will be a completely impromptu post, as I am super surprised (but super ecstatic) to have learned that the Supreme Court has legalized same-sex marriage in the United States! 😀

I woke up this morning, and found the news trending (or rather, exploding) all over the Internet. All over Twitter, Facebook, Tumblr, heck, even here on WordPress. In a nation so fervently divided on this issue, it came as a huge surprise to me that the Supreme Court would ever pass this in court at all.

But it did, and to me, it felt like a huge sigh had been taken off of millions of LGBTQA people’s shoulders- at least, those who wanted legal marriage, to be officially recognized as the status of being married to the person who they love. ❤

As a self-identified queer Asian-American women, I have always thought that my multiple intersectionalities in the United States would always be a struggle. It still is, but now it has become less of a burden for me, considering that this court ruling had happened.

And I’m sure that there will be people out there who have something more critical (even negative) to say about this topic. In fact, I know it will happen. But for now, all we ought to do is slow down and enjoy this moment. Enjoy this moment that will go down in American history, enjoy the positive vibes from people all across the nation, and enjoy the good news with the person you love (or will come to love). 🙂

Because really, in the end, #LoveWins.

  1. It was a great day on Friday when the decision was announced. I am happy that everyone gets to be with the one they love for life through marriage. It’s going to mean so many good things for people who have waited so long.
